1. How fresh is your coffee?

"Fresh" can mean different things depending on the context. Although we roast your order and ship whole beans to you within 3-4 business days, you might not want to grind that coffee immediately. Our specialty grade coffee is roasted to various levels, from light medium to ultra dark, to achieve specific flavor and aroma profiles.

As part of the roasting process, carbon dioxide (CO2) is released naturally from the coffee beans and continues to degas for a certain period, especially in the first 12-24 hours after roasting. This is why our bags have a small release valve to prevent pressure buildup. If your bag is slightly plump and you smell a pleasant aroma from the valve, it's a sign of freshly roasted coffee.

The rate of CO2 degassing varies depending on the coffee type and roast level, which can influence the flavor. Generally, we suggest brewing our coffee 7 to 14 days after roasting, but this depends on the specific coffee. Some coffees improve with time, while others, like decaf, should be enjoyed relatively soon after roasting. Feel free to experiment or contact us for advice—we're happy to help!

2. How long will my order take before I receive it?

We process and ship coffee orders within 3-4 business days after receipt, excluding the day the order is received. At this time all coffee orders are only shipped domestic throughout the United States. Please allow an additional 1-2 days during peak times, holidays, and unforeseen events. Note that we are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. We primarily ship via USPS, though UPS may be used for some orders. Our priority is ensuring a smooth experience for you, so don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. Once your order leaves our facility, we can't control the delivery time, but you should receive a tracking email. If you don't see it, please check your spam folder. Please note that we do not ship on the following holidays, as we are closed: New Year's Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Please note, when you order merchandise with your coffee, they may arrive separately. Our coffee ships directly from the roasting facility to ensure you receive the freshest roast as quickly as possible. Since we use small-batch roasting for quality, merchandise and coffee may ship on slightly different schedules. As always, fresh roasted coffee is our priority!

3. Are your coffees available year-round or only seasonally?

All of our single-origin coffees are seasonal and vary throughout the year. We stock some in larger quantities based on anticipated demand, while others are purchased in smaller batches and may not be replaced once sold out. For our blends, we strive to maintain a consistent flavor profile month to month using our seasonal single origin coffees. Please note that some coffees in our blends are not available as single origin offerings. We will keep you informed of any changes as they occur.

4. Do you offer organic and/or Fair Trade coffee?

Certifications haven't been our focus over the years, as they don't necessarily reflect the true flavor quality we prioritize. These certifications can be quite costly for both farmers and roasters. Relying on certification can detract from focusing on quality and direct trade relationships that might offer better terms. We work with small family farms that practice sustainable agriculture, utilizing compost and natural fertilizers to cultivate their crops with care.

5. Are your coffees artificially or naturally flavored?

We don't add any flavors to our coffees. Each of our specialty grade coffees boasts its own unique, naturally occurring flavors, which we highlight through meticulous selection and roasting. Introducing artificial or even natural liquid flavoring would detract from the inherent beauty of the bean's natural taste. It’s simply not a part of our approach to roasting fine coffee.

6. Can I return an item I purchased?

Please see #7 “what If I received the wrong order” as it is explained there about what is an acceptable return. Although we strive for excellence in quality and customer experience, unfortunately we cannot accept any returns under any other conditions. Please reach out to us via our contact form or email info@cafefusioncoffee.com if a product is not satisfactory and we will do our best to remedy this.

7. What If I received the wrong order?

If we make a mistake and send the wrong coffee or merchandise, please accept our apologies and let us make it right!
For Coffee:
We will send the correct order and cover return shipping as long as the coffee is whole bean and the bag is unopened. We cannot accept returns, nor provide refunds or credits for opened coffee bags or ground coffee.
For Merchandise:
Please return the item to the provided address if drinkware has not been used, garments have not been worn, washed, or altered, and the item is not damaged. We will send the correct order and cover return shipping if these conditions are met. The only exchange allowed is for garment size, provided the above conditions are met. For garment exchanges, you are responsible for the return shipping costs.

8. What sustainability efforts does your business make?

We absolutely feel that it is our personal responsibility as individuals in life and in business to steward the care of our environment. Whether we want to admit it or not, the whole coffee industry contributes in some way to excess waste and damage to the environment. Nevertheless, we believe that we can make better decisions on small things that will add up to make a significant individual impact. Packaging can be some of the most wasteful material for any business so we strive to reduce our waste by choosing compostable or recyclable materials. Our coffee bags are commercially compostable Biotrē™ 3.0 and can be found on the manufacturer’s website:

tricorbraunflex.com

Per the manufacturer, after removing the zipper and valve, "the entire bag has been shown to break down in an industrial composting environment into healthy compost in 90 days. Biotrē™ 3.0 can be disposed of in curbside composting bins, if available." Please check this useful resource to see if composting is available in your area:

sustainablepackaging.org

Our coffee is purchased from small scale farmers who practice sustainable farming by favoring compost and natural fertilizers over commercial materials. Even our cups and lids when serving coffee at events are either made of PLA, which is compostable at commercial facilities, or post-consumer recycled paper and plastic that can be disposed of in our own recycling or compost bins. No action is too small; a little goes a long way.
